Some of the most-respected, lives-on-the-line, big-budget, high-speed, low-drag operators in the LE/Military world carry SIG firearms, because they CAN! I don't think that Taurus can make that claim in the wildest stretch of anyone's imagination.

If you've got the option, then exercise it wisely...SIG.
There are only TWO kinds of people in this world; those who describe the world as filled with two kinds of people...and those who don't.

    I am not a lemming........but............

My prefrence is the 45 caliber for carry, but do not have any history with taurus, out of the two choices you posed, SIG hands down. if you prefer the 45 for carry there are many out there. a buddy of mine (he's my gun guru) says taurus kind of copies other manufactures but usually do a good job, he says the 24/7 is the taurus version of the glock/xd.

I think most board members have summed it up pretty well. My own opinion is the same, but based on my own experience. I had a Taurus pt-140, and after I joined the Taurus Forum, and read about the many bad experiences with reliability issues, I did not feel comfortable trusting my life to the Taurus. I subsequently traded it for a Sig 239 in 40 cal. and the gun lives up to its reputation of: "To Hell and Back Reliability"

I wanted a lighter gun in .45 cal so I now carry a Glock-36 and it has become my very favorite ccw.

If you have to give up the Sig to get the Taurus, keep the Sig.

Personally, I don't like the grips of the P239... too small... but it was a very reliable gun... don't sell it... save your money and buy another gun... you find that over time you will collect more and more guns.

When I had first seen pics of the 239 I thought it was one ugly gun but then I saw it in person I completely changed my mind. Bottom line...Pictures dont do it justice!!
