I got tired of waiting on the Ruger and got the Charter variety instead. Fun shooting .32 H&R in it.

Took New 327 to Range Today

I tried out my new Ruger SP101 327 Magnum at the range today.

The first thing I did was swap out the standard grip for a Hogue grip.

The following is very subjective, as I made no direct comparisons today.

I fired a couple of cylinders of 32 Long Rifle initially. A very light recoil, more than a 22 but less than a range load 38. I think it will be very suitable as an initial introduction round for my wife. I was a little dismayed to find that the empty casings did not want to eject smoothly.

Next I fired a cylinder of H&R 32 Magnum. This is a noticeable step up in recoil. Still fairly light, but I would put it near equivalent to a 38 range load. The empty casings adhered even more than the 32 LR above. In fact, I even had to carefully worry one casing out with difficulty.

Last was the round I intend as the primary ammunition. Federal 85 grain 327 Magnum Hydrashok. I fired a full 20 round box ($21). The recoil is yet another step up, handleable but significant. I'd guess it to be more than a 9mm or a hot 38, but less than a 357. I was relieved to find that the 327 casings dumped smoothly each and every time.

All my shots tended to be a little high and left. Unfortunately I'd forgotten to bring a tool to adjust the rear windage sight.

All in all, I like it!

Lead .32 S&W & lead H&R mag bullets will lead the cylinder to the point that .327 ammo fired without cleaning the lead out first will stick in the chambers
Rem round nose seems the worst.
