    SiG P220 Carry

    Hey Guys-

I was wondering if any of you carry a SiG P220 Carry and if so what kind of rig you use.

I would really to carry OWB with only an untucked shirt for cover but I'm not sure if I can make it work with the P220 since its a fairly large piece.

I really want to carry a 45 and I would prefer a SiG over a 1911.....but it seems the 220 Carry may be to large to conceal, and the only other option I am considering is a commander size 1911, preferably a Colt, but I would like to see if anyone else is carrying a P220 first.

    Thanks
    Josh

I usually carry IWB but on the rare occasions OWB with either a P220 or P226 I use an inexpensive Don Hume Pancake ($40) or a DeSantis Speed Scabbard ($50). The DeSantis is VERY fast but not re-inforced for easy re-holstering.

The only thing that determines what is too "big" for carry is how good your holster and belt combo is. With an inside the waistband holster, barrel length becomes almost a non-issue. Grip length is the part that prints the most regardless the holster style.

Remember, with most guns out there you need to dress around the gun.

    Thanks SC and jeep-

I've pretty much been all over the board looking for a new carry gun, it's good to know someone conceals the P220. It's my first choice on my list. The only other contenders are the Colt Commander or a Kahr CW45. I really like the CW45 but it's so light I think recoil might be substantial.....I wish I could shoot one before I made a decision, that's what put the P220 and commander above it, I've shot and held those.

I've been carrying a P220 Carry for a while now. Unfortunately the fine leather holster I use came from holster maker that went out of business. I think he may be back now but I don't know.

Actually, the holster was made for a Sig 229R and the Sig 220R Carry fits it very well. I happen to be carrying the 229R in that same holster and it fits just fine after carrying the 220 carry in it - they are very close in size.

I own both a Colt XSE LW Commander and Sig P220 Carry. I added slim grips to both guns. I own both high-quality iwb/owb holsters for both. The Commander is definitely thinner and more easily concealed. I will try to take some pics later for comparison. I previously owned a Kahr P45. Although it is thin and lightweight, it was a ***** to shoot. I did not care for the recoil. I eventually replaced it w/ a Glock 36 which I like so much better. The P220c can be concealed just fine, there are many who carry it and a P229 (which is pretty much the same size) on a daily basis. Also, take a look at the M&P 45 Compact.

I have a 220 Carry on the way and just ordered the IWB/OWB Mason-Dixon holster from Brock at Bluegrass Holsters. You should check out that and his other holsters. Top quality products at a very affordable price, not to mention outstanding customer service

When I carry the 220 "carry", it sits in an xd 4" owb and seems to be made for it.

I don't need to buy another owb as long as the xd4" fits so well. I had one at the the house so I didn't have to order and wait for it.

I carry mine in a DeSantis Viper - that's a paddle holster with a thumb strap. I'm not fond of the thumb straps in general, but this one works well and it's not expensive.

I've been carrying the Sig P220 for 2 years now, and the only holster that I have used is a $5.00 "Uncle mikes" IWB polyester holster! And all I wear over it is a baggy t-shirt shirt. Hope that helps.

I will have to agree with AzQKR, I am using a Hume that was made for the XD 45 and it works great. Conceals easy .
