    She isn't pretty - but I trust her !

I know many of the threads talk about the somewhat expensive loaded 1911s, but does anyone have an EDC 1911 that borders on ugly! My EDC is a Springfield LW .45 that has seen too many presentations from the holster to count. The little nicks and bumps they all seem to get and has been cold blue touched-up a half dozen times or so. This gun has feed everything I've loaded in the mag including SWC from day one. Never a FTF, FTE just putts right along and closing in on 2500+ rounds with a complete spring change at 2000. I just touched the bare spots up on the slide again tonight, and thought I'd take a picture before she gets shop-worn again. I do like this old gun, and it happens to be one of those that came out-of-the-box very well fitted and shoots better than most of the guns I own.
Well- It won't make you swoon, but here she is:

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. If she shoots good and doesn't let you down, what more can you ask for. Much better than a pretty gun that doesn't operate for you.

When you need to draw that pistol for real, reliability is infinitely more important than beauty. Some of my most trusted guns look like hell but shoot like a dream.

A well worn gun is its own kind of pretty. There's a great deal of difference in the look of a gun that's been well used and well cared for and a gun that has been poorly treated and neglected.

My carry gun has sign of wear and nicks ... just like me and my wrinkles; they are a mark of a good and busy life.
I don't see a need to touch it up, it shows that I have been wearing it for years after years, a faithful companion !!!

When I read the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be about my wife.

You're right, she's uglier than a mud fence... maybe you should send her to me!

Appearance aside, congrats on a reliable tool and welcome aboard!

A gun with some wear and tear is appealing to me. I think that it adds character. Reliability is of utmost importance, though.

It is better to have your gun and not need it, than to need it and not have it!
