    Help me decide...

I am buying a S&W for my girlfriend for Christmas. I want to get her the Lady Smith hammerless model. Do I get it in Stainless or Nickle? I realize stainless would be pretty easy to care for but does Nickle have any special care requirements? I want it in all steel because I think it will be easier on her hands. What are your thoughts?

I say let her decide......pose the question to her in a way she doesn't actually think she is choosing... Take her to the gun shop and see what she picks out or prefers.

She already decided that she likes the wheel gun. She has had plenty of time to aquaint herself with my semi-autos and because of her small size and diminutive hand size & strength she has determined that a revolver will be best for her needs.

I think he meant let her decide the finish as well. That would be my advice too.

I don't want to sound chauvinistic but I make all the firearms decisions in this relationship. I was asking the forum about care for the Nickle finish. I know the Stainless wont need much care, but what about the Nickle? She gets to decide things that are in her realm, I get to make the call on things in mine. It may sound foreign to some but it works wonderfully for us.

Either would be great, but I've learned that with my wife...which ever one I would choose...she'd prefer the other.
Let her choose...then she'll feel liked SHE picked it out.

Yes indeed, his words are often wise. But she really doesn't care about the finish, I do. Truth be told, her interest in the finish is about a zero on a 1-10 scale.

In my opinion.........and I did have an NP³ finish Colt Trooper MKIV, and I know, work with, and have had a few guns that had stainless steel parts, and still currently own some. The NP³ finish will actually be better than the stainless steel as far as cleaning or rust is concerned and easier to maintain overall. It could be compared to a chrome lined bore vs a bare steel bore for all intents and purposes.......in my opinion of course. If this is what you were getting at. Stainless will rust....it's just not a susceptible as hardened steel. I'd need to be a metallurgist or engineer to explain further. I'm neither.
