    S&W Blocked my Glock Purchase

I should sue. I went to the store with the full intention of bringing home a Glock 27. I went to the sales guy, asked to hold one, pointed it at the wall, pointed it at the floor, squeezed the grip to test the feel one last time, and placed it against my hip ccw style...
I couldn't wait to shell out the $100 bills I had in my back pocket. It was finally MINE!!!

Then as an afterthought I said "What is in direct competition with this pistol?" thinking I'd see an XDm again just for kicks.

Oh no, Mr Salesguy pops off and says, "Have you looked at S&W? I carry one (shows his hip holster) and for me it's a much better fit."
I think whatever old man. S&W is for people with an AARP card. Glock is revolutionary! but I just say,"no" and follow him to the case.

He pulls out this sexy little M&P40c and hands it to me and I'll be darned if it didn't purr when it slipped into my hand. What kind of sorcery is this??? It snuggled up, looked up at me with a sexy, sultry smile and said, "Hey there big guy."

I looked back at the glock in my left hand. It felt fine before but now it felt like a big, clumsy rubber band gun made of rocks. With a sad face I handed it back to the guy and told him to wrap up my sexy new shooting partner and find me some shells, ASAP.

150 rounds and countless insane giggles later and I'm fairly certain my wife will catch me in bed with her soon and leave me.
Maybe I can buy a nice holster after the divorce.

Superman needs a gun? What's the world coming to?

    Great bait and switch!
I love mine, but the bride decided to take it for her carry. I'm back to my full size M&P40.

Very well written; I needed some uplifting humor (spent the morning in court). Congratulations on having been found by the lovely piece.

Well being a Glock fan I will try to play nice. Glad you are happy but I trust my life to the original tried-and-true.

No, but I think it might be like working in a brothel or a BBQ place.
I'd have BBQ all over my face and hands all day long. No downside I can see.

Well, there is one. This stupid perma-grin won't go away and I keep thumbing the slide. It seems to like it and I can't stop.

I understand your circumstance. Every time I have held a Glock side by side with an alternative I was considering, I ended up buying the alternative -- in one case an XD.40 and in another a H&K USP9. Glocks just don't do it for me, no matter how practical, rugged, reliable and reasonably priced they are.

Very good! And there's no requirement to own a Glock.

So your new pistole is not your father's S&W?

Same thing happened to be 10 years ago when I went to buy a Glock. After fondling & dry firing the glock, he handed me an H&K USP. At that point, it then made no difference that the H&K cost hundreds more than the Glock, I bought the H&K.

Congratulations on the new firearm, and thanks for the bit of amusement. There is a moral to the story here though; that is: You can benefit from the experiences of us geezers! My boss had an expression that I always borrow: " A new broom sweeps well, but the old broom knows all the corners!"

Congrats on the purchase. Care to share your impressions of the M&P? I am currently considering one myself, after having looked at one over the holiday weekend. I've read a ton of reviews on it, and I would be interested in the thoughts of a "regular guy" as well as the "experts".

Congrats on the M&P. I love mine. Light as a Glock with a more CZ-ish shaped trigger on it.
