    P229.

    Its a bit smaller.

I like Sigs though. There is really nothing wrong with an XD.

I've shot both a little and while they're both fine weapons, I'd take the Sig any day.

I have carried my P229 for five years. Never missed a beat.
I had a XD, did not like it..but, my preference only as they are a nice gun as well. Sig would be my choice.

    I just started carrying a Sig P229 in .40 S&W and I love it!

Can't go wrong with a Siggly-Wiggly in this regard. The crazy testing that the P229 went through for the DHS contract is testament to the quality of these fine weapons.

I was one of the first around my neck of the woods to get the xd45, had it for a while, traded it for a 229 and honestly I have not missed the xd. Not saying its a bad gun, but comparing the two together is like comparing a lexus to a bmw. If your looking to get the best around Sig no question, if your looking for a good gun for a good price Xd. one more thing to think about, sig is easier to conceal, 40 rounds are a little cheaper to buy, and you can buy a 357 sig barrel and have two calibers in one gun. the 357 sig is a very nice, accurate round to shoot.

    Sig

I'd have to go with the Sig P229. I've had one for 8 years and it has functioned perfectly through thousands of rounds. It is one of my most accurate guns and the grip fits me very well.

Reason I asked is this, as my user name suggest, I'm one more step closer to becoming a cop and in my area, the pd will only allow us to carry a particular weapon off duty. The only approved for off duty carry are the P229 and it has to be .40 or the Smith Wesson J frame. I can no longer carry my XD off duty and I have to purchase the P229 for off duty carry. It's also the approved duty carry but I cant use the issued duty weapon for off duty carry so I'll have to buy another.

+1 on the Sig. The XD is a bit big for carry. IMO
