    Taurus - Good or Bad.

In the past few weeks/months it seems there have been numerous questions being asked by folks as to whether Taurus handguns are worth the money based on similar items in the market. Or what would be a good gun for carry at a reasonable price etc.

My goal is to take the opinions out of the mix and find out what the actual track record of people on this forum is with Taurus.

I have two, a 3rd Gen PT111 with Heinie sights, and a PT 24/7 Pro DS with Novack sights, and like them both. Think both were well worth the money, and the more that I shoot them, I continue to be pleased with the money spent and performance. Both were bought with the intention of being carry guns, so I didn't care what they looked like, but they had to have the right feel and function.

So, what say you members of DC, what is your actual experience and judgement of Taurus handguns?
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

    I own 4 Taurus pistols.

    Model 66
    Model 605
    PT92FS
    PT111 3rd Gen.

I have never had a problem with any of them. I use the PT92 for IDPA and have taken a couple of Classes with it and it has functioned fine.

Owned 2 Taurus', a 651 .357 snubbie, and my PT145. Loved the 651, but didn't quite work out as a pocket gun. The PT145 replaced my XD45 compact b/c it was smaller and easier to hide. Still don't regret that trade. I have almost 1000 rounds through my 145 with maybe 3 FTF on my first range trip about a year ago.

My 745 works quite well... it seems to shoot a little low, but that might be operator error...

I have 2 of them, a 24/7 Pro and a 617 357 Mag 7 shot revolver. I have no other experience with Taurus. I have had no QC issues with either gun. The 24/7 is 45 Cal. I don't like the Heine sights but the fit and function are quite good. The 617 shoots well and has given me no reason to dislike it. The trigger is not as smooth as a Smith but for the price is an OK gun. Both of my Taurii are very acceptable carry guns and untill they give me grief I just can't badmouth Taurus. As stated, they are my only Taurus experience. My first loves continue to be S&W and Ruger revolvers of course.

I had a 92, the Beretta knockoff with an adjustable sight. The screw that held the sight to the slide keep shearing off. They would replace it but it required me to send it in at my expense and be without my gun for up to a month. I asked if they planed to do a permanent fix sometime and they said no. I traded it in for a Beretta with fixed sights and have never had a problem with it.

I haven't shot mine extensively, so my response of "I have not had trouble" is based on admittedly limited shooting (probably less than 300 rounds so far).

My Taurus 94 .22 has given me no trouble whatsoever.

I currently own a Model 85 .38 snubby and a .22 magnum pump rifle. Have put a ton of ammo through both. All is well.

My 605 has graduated to EDC. Not the prettiest thing, but no troubles, and I wouldn't want to be on the other end.

Have a 94 in 22lr, 85UL in .38spcl and a PT1911 in .45acp, no problems with them at all. I carry the PT1911 as my main CCW and 85UL as my backup.

I think you need to separte the POLL..... one about their guns, and one about the Company and their service.

Their guns that I have, have been fine. All revolvers.
The Customer Service, just to get a minor item that was their fault (didn't put it in the gun) horrible.
