New sights for my XD-9?
Hi all,
I have an Springfield XD-9, and aside from the sights, I love the gun
. From the southpaw friendly features, to its feel in my hand, to its accuracy. The only thing I have issue with are those sights. I can't see the dots in low light. By "low light" I mean the shade of the shooting house at my gun club's range. The dots all but disappear, and I find myself aiming by centering the front blade within the notch.
I want to get a rear sight that's adjustable in x and y, and the front sight should be bright enough for me to see. What have you been using? This is going to be my first mod for this gun. Oh yeah, I carry it all the time, so I don't think target sights are the way to go.
Thanks in advance for the help,
Demetri

I LOVE my XD-9; I haven't had problems with the sights, but I know SA has a factory Tritium upgrade; and I'm sure there is ton's of aftermarket support.
Let me know and post pics, I might have to do the same

The stock XDsights are press-fit and notoriously hard for you, or your local gunsmith, to remove. The choices are usually destroy a sight pusher or destroy the stock sights. Springfield will remove your sights if you send the slide back to them, but won't install any aftermarket sights for you. If you go to all the trouble to send it back, might as well have the factory night sights installed. If you want to do it yourself, I'm pretty happy with the Tru Glo TFOs myself. They are great in the light as well as the dark, otherwise I think there's not much difference between the plain night sights from Trijicon, Meprolight, or whoever.

Thanks for the responses.
I checked out the websites for Trijicon, Truglo, and Meprolight. I really want an adjustable rear and I couldn't find one. I shoot consistantly low and right with the gun.

I have both Meps and Trijs on several of my sidearms...of the two I prefer Trijicon...you will be amazed at what a difference they make in dim light...and...just as regular daytime sights.
Stay armed...night sights help old eyes...stay safe!

Went with the Truglos, amazing fiber optics for daytime acquisition and tritium for low-light. You can't go wrong, I have them on two XD's

From a fellow lefty, you shooting low and right is most likely not related to your sights.
