Took my new Dan Wesson Bobtail out today for her maiden voyage. Kinda of a shakedown cruise, so to speak. We shoot at my brother's place on Lake Barkley (Kentucky) where he has several acres of hills and wood once a week or so. Some friends, neighbors and relatives usually show up with guns of all persuations so it is a first class hoot. Today was no different. It was a mild 70 degrees with almost gale force winds but still, it was 70 glorious degrees after a frigid week. I have posted pictures of my contribution to the day's arsenal. A Smith 642, 2 Glocks and the new DW (my first 1911 in years).
I had the Bobtail cleaned and oiled up for today and with 100 shots...never had a hiccup. The DW trigger has absolutely ruined me using the DA Smith (I loved that little gun until today). It truley was like breaking a piece of lightbulb glass. Now that danged ole Smith feels like pull starting an old lawn mower. I have read where honest men have said the Bobtail was more accurate than they were and didn't know intill today what they meant. Even with the high wind and really just trying to get a "feel" for the pistol the thing was a marvel. See picture of me squatting by targets. The one on the left (where I'm counting double holes) is the Bobtail, the one to the right is the Smith. Those are at 45 feet. With my last 2 mags of the day I put up a fresh paper. Ate a big hole just right of center with 2 bullets left I put a spent shotgun shell in the hole and walked back about 30 feet and pushed the brass out the back of the plastic with the last shot. I have never been this stoked about a pistol since I was a kid (I stayed fairly stoked all the time back then). Also pictured is the DW dirty as can be. You can bet it's as clean as new and oiled back up for tomorrow as I write!
Very, very nice my friend. Nice choice. I have the Bobtail in 45ACP and 10MM. Both of mine had FTE's several times in the first 50 rounds, which is all I have the opportunity to shoot them. I own too many toys, and not enough time to play with them. Keep on shooting em..
I know, I know, you are smarter than me..just ask you..
Have had 2 chances to acquire them in 10mm. Sweet piece !

Sweetness. Glad you had fun peelin caps.
Very nice 1911, I am jealous. That's been on my list for awhile, but no one around here carries it so I can't hold it to make up my mind.
One more thing, I also put 250 through the Glocks. They here to stay.
Very nice shooting! Doesn't a filthy CBOB look good? Almost as good as a shiny clean one.
My CBOB is my current carry gun. I plan to carry it between December and May, just for a change of pace from my G19 which I carry the other half of the year. I'm glad you enjoyed shooting yours. Nice shooting too, can't say I'm yet that good at near 50 feet yet.

I really love the way a Bobtail 1911 looks. I have held one but never fired one. That is something I want to do.
Very nice gun you have there.
Come on guys. I have been lusting for one of these for about a month. Was able to suppress the desire until this thread. Quick, somebody say something critical about Dan Wesson's!

Something critical? How about they aren't easy to find and when you get one they are hard to put down..
Sorry for the thumbnails, I now see how to post photos properly!
Man, you let Billy Bob Thornton shoot your new gun?
