    Picked up my new PT1911

Every year I get myself a present - ya know, elf yourself.
This year it is a Taurus PT1911. Tonight I stripped it down for the first time and cleaned out all the factory gunk. Lubed it up and did a function check. She's still tight, but smooth.
I have yet to get away to the range for break-in.

    Anyways, here's her debut:

That is one snazzy looking 1911 you have there. I bet you will enjoy shooting it.

We would like to hear a range report of course. With more pictures....

Like mine after I changed out the sights. Didn't like the Heine Straight 8 sights. She's operated flawlessly for me.

Congrats! It is always nice to get yourself a present for Christmas. And the PT1911 seems to be well received.

    The first 100 rounds today

Got off work early today and decided it would be a great time to begin the break-in. Got home, grabbed my range bag and new toy, and off to the closest range. Got there and found a huge waiting line. Got in line and got my number, then killed time in the gun shop, dreaming and wanting.
The range is running at 50% lane capacity due to a renovation in progress. 45 min. had passed and I wasn't anywhere near puttin' on my ears. So I gave my number back to the desk and headed north to the next decent public range (great staff!).
By this time I only had time to run the first 100 through her. 50 Blazers and 50 Blazers Brass. Performed absolutely flawlessly! No hiccups, winks or sneezes. But, 8 rounds goes soooo quickly! Guess I better work some more on my mag changes.
I am having a bit of an issue adjusting to the two-dot site.
Sorry there are no pics, but this was an impromptu range trip.
The first eight shots were pretty much all over the target, as I was getting used to the trigger and recoil management. (My first .45).
I'll have to get a pic of the target and post it later...
In a nutshell, I punched a couple $.50-piece sized holes with about 75 of the hundred. The rest were misses and playing (like stitching a line across the neck).
All in all, I am very satisfied and impressed with this gun.
Now looking for IWB leather for her.
    More to follow!
