    S&W 649 or 442 help me decide

Hi guys I've got a problem on my hands and its this. I've got an older(1991 or so vintage according to S&W) 649 bodyguard stainless steel in .38spl on layaway at my local shop, but want a 442 also.

I already have an old model 42 airweight but its not +p rated, the 442 however is. Now the problem is I can't afford both so which would you guys get between the two mentioned?

I owned the 649. I now have the 442 and 642, well, I have the 442, wife 642. Nice guns, but some seem to have had some issues with the locks. I have not had that issue, but I have only put about 100 rounds through each. Luck.

I'd be all over that 649, but then I already have a 642 and no Bodyguard so I'm biased. I'd suggest grabbing a no-lock 442 while they're still available.

Since you already have an "Airweight", I would go with the 649. Also, with your model 42, I would practice with non+P ammo and carry it with +P Gold Dots or something. Chances are slim that five +P rounds in a self defense situation will harm the gun. My .02 worth.

both are good guns. go with the one that you like. i ilke older j-frames. as for the +p thing. practive with 148gr wad cutters and carry the +p ammo. only got to shoot five rounds of +p. that small amount will not hurt anything.
