I own a SP-101 and have been wanting a GP-100 for a while now. I like Ruger revolvers for their ruggedness and reliability. (But that is one of the draws for all revolvers, reliability.) I'm not sure if I'd want the 3 or 4 inch though. Maybe one day...
I'm another Ruger fan. I've got a 4" Security-six that was already old when I bought it about 7 years ago, I've put at least 10,000 rounds through it (probably 60% of which have been magnum loads) and it just gets better and better.
My security-six is a great gun. I almost traded it once...glad I didn't!
I carry it sometimes when I'm home in Florida, since my main carry guns are in El Paso while I'm working here.
I keep it loaded with .38sp for my wife and daughters while I'm gone, and .357 when I'm home...versatility!!
I'm currently looking for a better holster for it.
I mostly own Ruger rifles, but I do love my 4" stainless GP-100!
I used to carry it while on duty, before I swiched to my G19. Now it will be my faithfull companion when camping this summer. Along with a Ruger rifle or two.
My primary carry piece is a stainles "3 GP and I can't say enough about how much of a pleasure it is to shoot. I personaly like heavy shooting irons because they can double as a blunt impact weapon in a pinch!!!! My duty Glock 22 just isn't the same, but I still consider it a good duty piece. I own plenty of autos and would carry "4 GP as a duty piece if the state would let me. I started out with wheel guns (Smith M10) and always enjoyed the punch that my Smith 681 had with the duty 125gr load. My beat was pretty rural and we had to finish off a lot of injured critters including some beefy whitetails that always fell like they where hit with "Thors Hammer" when smacked with the ol 357!
I had a 4" GP100 for a while, and I liked it very much. I bought it froma friend that was getting divorced and needed the money. When he got back on his feet I let him have it back. I need to find another one.
I had a 4" Security Six for a little while as well. I loved the size of it, but I never could get the hang of the trigger.
I know you've seen this one before, but it's posted for the new members........sooooooooo here ya go!!
Ruger Police Service six in 357 Mag
