    Citadel/Howa 1911's

I was looking online @ budsgunshop.com when I found Officer size 1911's for $489.00 made by a company named Citadel. The pistols comes with 2 mags, an extended beavertail, skeletonized hammer and trigger, and novak-type sights. I might be in the market for one because of my problem with printing at work. After some research I discovered Citadel is a Howa/Legacy company. They make awesome rifles but does anyone know if they make a good 1911? Here's the budsgunshop link

    Never heard of them...

The $489 price tag gives me pause, even the Taurus PT1911 costs more than that.

True, but look at the Rock Island Armory guns. Those are awesome and you can get the 5" for around $400. I like how Citadel is a Howa company, their rifles are amazing.

After looking at more pics of them, I'm guessing it's another Philippine made 1911 similar to Armscorp, RIA etc.

Just my .02, but I don't want to buy anything that requires a Google search to see who the heck made it.

Yeah, I just looked at Legacy Intl's website under Citadel Handguns, all it says is "Coming Soon"

I know this looks like a double standard, but it I were looking at a gun in that price point, I would go RIA/Armscorp, at least you know what you're getting up front.

Impact Guns, $489.00, other than that, check out GunBroker and GunsAmerica as well as the local gun shows, that's where I actually see the most RIAs.

There are many 1911 blogs...I'm sure someone out there can give you all the info you need. Those 1911 guys LOVE to talk about their guns.

No value judgement but, just because they come from Legacy Intn'l does not mean they are made by Howa. Legacy is simply an importer and may import brands from many manufacturers around the world - Howa being just one of them. Howa is a well respected Japanese arms manufacturer and it is doubtful that they would/could manufacture a bargain-basement 1911-style firearm. Just my $.02 worth.

    Adios,
