First Gun XD9 Sub or Taurus Mill. Pro

Okay, so I have been reading a ton of information on all sorts of handguns. Been rolling around here for a pretty good while and I've looked at several different guns. This will be my first handgun to own and I will be carrying it.

I think I have it down between the XD9 Subcompact or the Taurus Millennium Pro 9mm (3rd generation with DA/SA). I've been reading a lot about the Taurus and it seems that this 3rd generation with DA/SA has been a well reliable gun. I'm leaning a little towards the Taurus because I can get it for a much better price. (Taurus for $329, XD for $469)

I'll have to do another comparison in person, but it would also appear that the Taurus is slightly smaller and would conceal a tad bit better.

Any information or advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

I had a PT111 Pro for a while. It had issues...didn't like to be dirty. It would FTF, FTRB during 100 - 200 round range sessions. That wasn't good enough for me, especially for a CC pistol.

I have handled but not shot the XD subs. I personally would lean toward the XD.

I just went and shot both guns yesterday. If it were only between those two, I would get the XD. The trigger pull was much better. The Taurus trigger felt kind of mushy to me, but I am sure it would be an ok gun. I also shot the glock 19 and S&W M&Pc, that is what I am leaning toward.

And by the way, GO UTES!!!

I like the Mil Pro and carry a PT-111

But I would easily give the XD the win. You should decide on you method of carry and wether the pitol will just be a CCW or serve for HD also

Right now, I can only afford one pistol, so this will be carried frequently, but also kept around my person at home as well...

If it is your primary pistol I would go for the XD.

Unless you can use the money you save on buying the PT-111 for a holster and other CCW needs.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I could use the saved money for a supertuck, gun belt, and some practice ammo....but I of course want a gun I can trust.

If forced to choose between the two, I'd go kicking and screaming to the gun shop for the XD.

Gotta go with the XD, although I don't think you will lose either way. My XD-9 service model and my XD-45c are outstanding. Only Taurus I have is a 85 Ultralite .38 revolver, my constant BUG.

I dont think you can go wrong eather way. XD9sc was my first choice till i held a PT140, i still like the XD but i wont be able to afford one for a good while

If money is the constraint on this use the extra $ for a crossbreed supertuck and anything left over for ammo with the PT111

I have no experience with the PT140 but do with the XD9sc as it was my first carry gun. It served me well with no problems but I have since moved on to the Smith & Wesson M&P9c. I found the M&P9c more comfortable, easier to conceal and I shot it better.

Of the two OP-mentioned choices, I would go with the XD9sc.

In the long run, I think you would be better served with the M&P9c or the Glock 26.

I went with the XD9SC and have never regretted the decision.
