Range Report: Taurus PT 24/7 Pro .45 acp..
well, finally hit the range with my new PT 24/7 pro. fired 50 rounds of FMJ 230 grain and 20 rounds of MagTech Guardian 180 grain hollow points. no jams, FTF or any issues at all.
the gun is very comfortable in my medium sized hands and to me had very little recoil for a .45 compared to other 45's i have shot in the past
EXCEPT:
i absolutely hate the sights that taurus puts on these guns...in order to hit my target i had to basically shoot blind and aim well above my target. if i aimed in the correct fashion my shots were about 6 inches too low from, 10 yards away.
any recomendations on new sights?
over all feel for the weapon, well pretty pleased. im sure once i break in the pistol and get new sights i will be very happy.

You probably have the Heine sights on your 24/7 as do I. I don't like them but I do think it's just a matter of getting used to them. Mine is the only gun in my stable that has Heine sights so it's difficult for me to get accustomed to them.

My PT1911 came with the Heine straight 8 sights and I hated them as well. I understand they are designed for quick target acquisition, I just couldn't shoot consistently with them. I switched to conventional 3 dot nights sights and love the gun now.I went with the PT night sights. I believe the sights were about $85-90. and $15. installation. You can ship just the slide to them directly and they return it directly to you.

My 24/7 Pro DS came with Novack 3 dot sights on it. From what I understand this is the latest version. Looking at their web site, you can get the fiber optic for 82 bucks. Mine are just plain 3 dot white sights.
My PT111 has Heine sights on it, I don't have a problem hitting with it. It just took a while to get used to it, not it is no problem.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

I had to look up the Heine sight to see what the fuss was about. Which model is the problem, the straight 8?

Interesting comments on the Heine sights, which by the way I have on my Taurus .45. Personally, I've had no problems at all getting used to them and find them to be very accurate. But, that's just me.
