Took the Glock 19 to the range

Well this is my 4th range trip with my glock since I purchased it. It is boringly reliable as I have never had any problems with it. The round count is up to 700 now and it is shooting great. I am not sure if the trigger is getting better or I am just getting used to it but non the less I am starting to shoot this gun better.

My range has some interesting targets and I figured I would give them a try. Please excuse the small .22 holes as I was trying my new buckmark out as well.

    [20] 9mm holes (Glock 19 25ft).
    [30] .22 holes (Buckmark 25ft).

There is still a bunch of room for improvement but I am getting better. I am still able to shoot my M&P more consistently but the triggers are completely different. Also note that I was aiming between the (x) and the 9 so It would minimize the change of hitting the hostage.

Looks good! I had a hard time getting use to the trigger on my G23 as well. Just remember, the more you shoot it the better you will shoot with it. My G23 has about 1,300 rounds down range and I'm way more accurate with it than anything else.

I know how you feel. I've got about the same number through my Glock 26. And I can definately see the improvement. I think I 'm getting used to the trigger and the sights too. Shot mine today at 7 yards and 15 yards and it was a very good day!

The Glock FAQ [Shooting Tips From The GSSF Pros]

some good info there. Also, moving my trigger finger to the joint helped a great deal as well. (more leverage with the stiff Glock trigger)

I have a factory extended mag release on my G19 and still have trouble releasing the mag without using my left hand sometimes. Other then that It shoots great. I have night sights that seem to be slower to get on target then the white outline sights on another G19 I shoot. Anyone have an opinion on the night sights.

Use the sights as iron sights rather than dot sights.

Good for you and your G19! A lot of folks aren't willing to put forth the efforts you have to make their Glocks work for them. That's too bad in a way. I figure you're doing very well right now......you'll only improve working with what you've got.

Looks like the hostage's right arm would have taken a beating..

Kidding aside that's some good shooting. I think the G19 will be my next purchase. I'm a 45 guy but have been feeling a need for a good 9mm and every guy should have at least one Glock.. See I can justify the purchase of just about anything.

G19 was my first Glock. Now I also own the G26 and G17.

I like silhouette targets. Real world experience, is better than punching holes in bulls eye targets.

So many people try to punch holes in a bulls eye target and end up get frustrated.
Like everything else there is a learning curve, and learning how to shoot a pistol just takes time and practice.

Over time you’ll get so use to a Glock trigger that you won’t want to shoot anything else.

    Oh. For an interesting twist.

Try stamping a red balloon on the THUG target head, and a blue balloon on the good guy being held hostage.

Then on the draw at 15 yards shoot out the red THUG balloon.

Did you get to the point where the trigger reset becomes an unconscious reflex; it helps a lot for follow up shots.
Fifteen minutes with "Simichrome" and a dremel can improve the trigger dramatically. The "Ghost Rocket" system is really helpful too.

Now, unto the G-26; with a Lone Wolf ported barrel it has the same ballistics as the G-19.

    Have fun

Keep in mind that center of mass in that situation is center of exposed mass! I think the points system on that paper was flawed... should have showed max points at center of exposed mass not center of target. This will minimize damage to the "innocent".

Last IDPA event we had to take a head shot at 11 yards with our loved ones head immediatly next to the bad guy! Put things in a good perspective and it was also amazing how many guys hit their "loved ones" in the shoulder or head!
