I carry the 4" barrel XD 45 compact and it is easy to conceal with the 10 round magazine. The 5" inch will not be any harder to conceal as the barrel length is the easy part to hide compared to the grip. As long as you have a good quality holster you should be good to go

Not a problem at all, I carry an XD 45 compact in a Hume OTW holster and also in an M-Tac. No worries mon

you can get the compact in a 4 or 5 inch barrel:
    Springfield Armory

Looking back, I wish I would have bought the longer barrel for better accuracy. I like the compacts because when I get home out comes the 10rd mag and I make it into a service model with the 13rd mag.

My XD45 C (4") is my regular concealed carry pistol. It's perfect.

I carry an XD 40 5" Tactical in Fist #14 daily. The only difference I see in carrying it and a smaller gun is that it takes a longer draw to clear the holster. But its so accurate once I bring it up, I feel confident carrying it.

    You shouldnt have any problems.

The XD45 compact is my main carry gun. I do have the 4" though but the barrel is in your waist band anyway so that should not matter one bit.
I carry in a crossbreed supertuck.
