I say go with the Kimber. I've found that THIN is king when it comes to concealment. The 1911 is nice and thin, making it ideal. I wear my Government model everywhere.

I have no personal experience with those pistols. Based purely on what I have read, I would favor the H&K and Sig brands over the Kimber for reliability and service.

Of those 3 I would choose the Sig. Of the two left tit would absolutely be the HK. Try another brand if you want reliability in a 1911.

I personally don't like HKs. I don't like polymer framed pistols.

I own a P229 and a Kimber procarry. Both are accurate, solid, reliable guns. I couldn't ask more of either. I still haven't decided which one I like more. Shoot them both, find out which you like the feel of, and pick one. That's my advice.

Definitely the Sig. But make sure you handle and hold one first. I carried and trained with a 229 for awhile, but decided that the grip girth was just too big for my hand.

I own a Sig P229. LOVE that gun. Accurate, reliable, and just a pleasure to shoot. Sig gets my vote!

I voted for the best CCW made, the HK P2000sk. Just a simple statement of fact.

I've tried Kimber and Sig, and these are fine pistols, no doubt, but the HK just "sing" in my hands. It shoots faster, more accurately and reliably than any pistol I've used. I've only had it for three years but I've yet to find any flaw in the P2000sk.

Good luck and safe shooting with whichever you pick.

The short trigger solved that for me. And I can't use hogue grips. The Sig aluminum grips are even thinner than stock, and I'd try those if they didn't cost so much. That's what I like about the kimber more is the grip fits a little better...I'm gonna get to where the safety sweep is something I don't have to think about at all before I carry it though. I've also heard of (but never seen) rare reliability problems with kimbers...but never sigs, so I have a little more faith in my sig.

I carry a HKP2000 love it never had any problems
I also have a Sig 226 but don't carry it much. When I do its open carry.
    I will some day have a 229
I will say the sig is a tack driver. The HK is more than adequate and in a self defensive situation I doughty if I will ever see the sights.

How does the Sig 229's safety engage. Is it possible with that gun to carry with hammer back safety on in single action mode?

Sig 229, of course. I have one with both the .40 and .357 barrels. As far as I am concerned the 229 is as good as it gets.
