Is it true that a Sig 226 is the same frame and slide as a Sig 229? Basically the same size for the same holster?

Holsters will be different. The frames aren't exactly the same, but very close. The slide on the 226 is also an inch longer, and not the same. They are very very similar though. They also take different magazines.

Someone from Sig told me they were. But for some reason I wasn't really sure about that.

That's odd that Sig would say that. They take different grip panels, magazines, barrels, the 226 slide has serrations all the way to the top, and all the fit holsters, even like the SERPA differentiate between the two.

If you're using a non fit holster, it would work...I can put my P229 in my M9 nylon thigh holster and it fits pretty well. The 226 would also fit it. But a 226 would definitely not work in my Milt Sparks for my 229.

the main difference is the trigger guards. i have some holsters that fit both and some that don't. most holsters fit either the 226/220 or 228/229

Were you told this by someone from Sig or by someone on the Sig Forum. There is a big difference in the 2. Below are links for the 229 and the 226. Judging by dimensions I would say they are not the same.

Someone at Sig, not the forum. I asked him about what the difference's were because I wanted to order some mold guns. Because I didn't want to order every one. If certain models were the same shape and size.

Are you sure it wasn't the 228 and 229? Those are dimensionally very similar, although not identical.
