This went south in a hurry, Sorry bout that Sig229, I am glad you have a gun that your happy with and fell confident with. I was just tring to razz ya a little, and it got a loiitle out of control.

I am all for everyone choosing different wepons and the truth be known I got a chance to shoot a Sig Pro a while back and enjoyed it quite a bit.

I was just reading today in Guns & Ammo - the ad' for the new SIG 1911's (GSR). They do look pretty nice. There was also a nice Ed Brown (Executive Target) for a mere $2.5k or so!

Oh and a short review on the Pro-9, the new Browning polymer..

Nice try but I prefer a long trigger. You also left yourself open to the mil-spec vs. beavertail grip safety AND the flat vs. arched MSH ... but thankfully you left off any front cocking serrations.

Hmmmmm no. Although I think most of us have some sort of Glock alternative even if we don't have an actual Glock.

As far as the one shot comment, thats why it holds either 8 or 9 (depending what mags you use). Try telling a WWI, WWII, Korean, or Vietnam Vet that the 1911 is a POS and Sigs are the "hot set-up".

I don't see a lot of 1911 praising coming from the users of them in actual combat situations out of the vets I know. It was just another piece of tool in the arsenal for modern guys - once you had a semi-or full-auto issued rifle, the firepower aspect at close range largely vanished as a practical force.

More lives have been saved and taken with a 1911 than your SIG.

And even more have been taken with clubs and sticks.

Because it is easier to teach someone "Spray and Pray" then to be accurate with what ya got.

That's what the folks doing the combat shooting games always thouoght until the 220 owned their butts so much that they changed the rules to ban the version that killed 'em.

I don't see the 1911 guys doing 100m shots out here. The Sig owners I shoot with all do, and make them.

Then again, we're spending time practicing rather than swapping magazines and figuring out FTE and FTF problems.

Granted most all Police agencies issue either Glocks or Sigs, if you take a look at the "Speciality teams" they carry 1911's

Specialty units, like the SEALs and Secret Service and US Marshalls?

You know, the Sig users.
