I don't see the 1911 guys doing 100m shots out here. The Sig owners I shoot with all do, and make them.

Then again, we're spending time practicing rather than swapping magazines and figuring out FTE and FTF problems.

Specialty units, like the SEALs and Secret Service and US Marshalls?

    You know, the Sig users.

That post brought a smile to my face.

SEALs use a variety of handguns. The Mk23 is one. The 226 is another. Stainless S&W 357 too if I recall.

The Naval Warfare folks did a commemorative SEAL gun with Sig last year.
Driver carries less than $45 worth of remorse.

Im sure they use that. But the 2006 Sig catalog from Sig Sauer says this is also used by seals.
I do know that the Navy buys the sig 228 & 9 in large quantities. I have a close friend who graduated from the Naval Academy a few years back. Now he's a F-18 Super Hornet pilot and when he was flying over in Iraq he was issued a Sig-228 2 mags and a holster that is on his flight harness in case he has to eject over hostile land.

This is exactly why I don't worry about what guns/knives/web gear/toothpaste the SEALs use. It's a special forces unit, they'll use bricks and mud if they have to.

"Choosing" to use a certain weapon and "Finding" a brick or stick is very different.

Had the chance to talk with my cousin last year. He's one of the SF guys and carries a 9mm Glock ... go figure.

And even more have been taken with clubs and sticks.

    Your point?

Not only did rfurtkamp drink the kool-aid, he is also a brewer and distributer of this eveil mind altering liquid.

Seems like we always butt heads for some reason.

I doubt they "choose" much of anything though. They'll use whatever the situation demands. I'd be willing to bet they've used anything and everything at some point, including the enemy's weapons.

Okay, I went to a gun shop/range today and tried out several pistols: CZ 75 in 9mm, Gock (one of the tiny ones) in .40, and a Springfield X (something) in .40. Later the sales guy let me handle his own Sig 229 in .40. The Sig felt the best of the four guns and I really liked the double action trigger pull. So...I'll probably be shopping for a Sig 229 with DAC trigger and their SAS model cuz it is so darned pretty (and the wife might even deign to shoot it).

Y'all have been real helpful on this forum and I appreciate the opportunity to read along...

    Larry
