I have a G23 it is easy to carry and kicks like a mule, but I like it. I would like to shoot a G19 though to see if I like it better. I shoot mine for the first time about 3 weeks ago and it ran perfect, I even limped wrist it to see if it would jam, but it didn't and that is one thing that I have heard about the G23. It is a very easy firearm to maintain.

It is the firearm that other firearms are judged against. The majority of all handgun base their pricing on how much the same caliber Glock costs. If you have a collection of modern firearms, and it does not have at least one Glock, then you don't have much of a collection.

In general terms, I'm not saying it is the best, just saying it is at least 2nd best. You really can't say that about other firearms.

I have owned a G23 for 11 years. Very reliable and easy to shoot. Mine does not kick like a mule. It has about the same recoil as other brands of 9mm. It's like getting a 40 S&W for the recoil of a 9mm. What a deal.

I never try and talk anyone into any particular brand of firearm. But I will list what it has going for it. It is ultra reliable. It can shoot most any ammo and function just fine. It is very easy to maintain and clean. heck it only has like 38 parts in the entire gun, 42 with the magazine. You can buy parts anywhere. There are many drop in options to change the trigger feel to one you like better. There are accessories out the rear for it. Basically, it is the AK of the pistol world.

If you can stand the grip angle and the rather plain exterior, you will have a great gun.

The Glockheads love em' but I don't have Glock sized hands so the only model worthy of my consideration is the slimline subcompact G36 chambered in the venerable .45. If you have Shrek hands i'd say go wild and get a few but otherwise...

I am comparing this weapon to my XD and so I need overall thoughts of the weapon and also for CC and for ease of carry and concealablity and any other things people want to throw in.

I've only owned 1 Glock and it was the 23. I always thought it was the perfect CC weapon as it was fairly easy to conceal, accurate, easy to maintain and 100% reliable. I sold it a couple of years ago because I was bored and wanted something more "sexy"........dumb, dumb, dumb.

The 23 has been my EDC for 9 years. It is so easy to work on. So light never jams or misfires. I have tried evrything to get it to malfunction and cannot. I carry IWB in a Don Hume PCCH but will be buying custom leather very soon. Do yourself a favor and purchase after market steel sights or order/buy wiht night sights the plastic ones are crap in my opinion.
