    Whats in your mag

    My apologies to Capitol One.

I know some of you guys carry several mag with you but I have a question about how the mags are loaded.

Do you carry hollow point self defense loads all through the mag or do you have solid point bullets in say positions 4 - 5 for those scenarios where the hollow points couldn't penetrate the bag guys cover?

    I'm curious.

Mine's all hollowpoints. If the first two don't make it through whatever he's wearing and stop him, he better have somethin' real nice covering his face if he wants to continue.

    I carry a .357 Sig . . .
    . . . and don't worry about penetration.

All hollow points. All mid-weight. All on the upper range of power/speed. All tested to ensure the specific brand/model of ammo works well in my specific gun.

Can't imagine that the change in performance would even be noticeable. When the chips are down, I simply want what I've proven to be reliable and accurate to continue doing exactly that ... until the threat is stopped. The last thing I want is to worry about having to vet another couple different rounds in the same gun, and prove out that they all work reliably well together. Pass.

I mix up, my first round is Federal 230gr. HST and the rest are Federal 230 gr. HST +Ps.
Sometimes I alternate those two. The logic being that with a first shot Non +P round, the follow up shot is easier and it IS a +P round. I shoot in pairs, it's just the way I train.
