XD owners...do you carry cocked?
I currently own an XD-M and since I just applied for my CCW license, I'm going to purchase an XD9 subcompact. I want an XD subcompact because it operates just like my XD that I'm used to...and I like the grip safety for carry, because you don't have to remember to de-activate it under stress, yet it does provide some type of safety system.
Question...with the grip safety setup, do you guys carry your weapons cocked with a round in the chamber or not?

Yes!!! One in the chamber, and top off the mag.

with an xd, when you rack one in the chamber, the striker is always cocked. So, in answer to your question, yes, I carry one round in the chamber with the striker cocked.

If you want one in the chamber, you don't have a choice with an XD and yes, if I carried my XDM, it would be with one in the chamber just like any of my carry guns.

I always carry with one in the chamber and the mag topped off. It is my belief that if you need to defend your life or a loved one, that things will be happening so quickly you will not have time to pull a pistol from concealment, chamber a round and place a shot before mister bad guy has you for lunch.

Yup. One in the chamber means my XD9 is cocked.

I carry my XD9-SC with one in the chamber ready to go should the need arise.
Like others have said, god forbid if you need to use it chances are there wont be enough time to draw and chamber a round.

Always! The two safeties prevent the gun from firing when they are activated. With the gun in a holster, it is especially safe.

Absolutely--without one in the chamber it's a throwing weapon...
In a true SHTF situation, you very likely will not have the time needed to rack the slide. Carry it condition 1.
