New member of the family (XDm9)

Saw this Springfield XDm 9mm the other day at the local gun shop:

After talking to one of the salesman, he mentioned they had one down stairs at the range... came back a couple days later to try it out... unfortunately he did not tell me it was the .40S&W XDm... luckily I know what a .40 and a 9mm feel like in the same frame (Glock 19 and 23)... anyways, long store short - the XDm40 was a great feel and shoot great groupings, even while shooting quickly and 2 body 1 head quick sets.

Now I just have to get to range... it might take a week, but I will out there soon.

    Sweet XD!!!

While I was at the gun shop today buying my new S&W M&P 9c, I saw them sell two XDM9's. I had to check again to make sure there wasn't a sale on them. Nice guns!

I'm a 1911 nut but even I fell for an XDm 9mm a month ago. You're gonna LOVE the way it shoots! 19+1 is pretty darn cool too!

Seems alot of 1911 fans tend to like XD's when switching over to tupperware. Maybe the familiar feel of the grip & grip safety? Still amazed that a compact .45 could be as much fun to shoot. A 9mm XD is on the list but it has to take a back seat my first and probably last custom

And another amazing thing is the magazine holds 19 rounds... 19+1... you can shoot all day on the range.

    First range trip... today... SWEET.

    19 shoots... approx 24-27 feet.

Summary: 220 rounds (200 rounds of range ammo + 20 rounds of self-defense ammo - JHP)... not one FTF or FTE... trigger felt good... I might change out the back plate so adjust the feel.

Here is some quick shooting at approx the same distance (57 shoots in 3 magazines), 1 magazine in the head, 2 in center mass:

I wouldn't change the back strap out since all your shots are centered. If it works don't fix it.

I just got an XD .40 service model and now I am really wanting to get myself an XDM is either .40 or 9mm. I am leaning towards the 9mm just for the 19 round mags and quick follow up shots. Plus the XDM would be for competition shooting and the ammo would be cheaper and less need to reload with 19 round mags.

Now, just to find a way to raise the money.....

I will say I'm not actually proud of this grouping, but I still thought this was worth showing everybody... considering it was my first range trip with this gun I do consider it pretty good... it will take me a little time to get familiar with the trigger... at least a couple more trips to the range.
