I would like to get some help on deciding between a Ruger P89 or FN FNP9. Both have features that I really like, I think that the both have ambi controls, and from what I've read, both are a good value for the money. The gun would be carried in a belt holster and would be concealed.
My young bride has the FNP-9, and I can testify that it's an outstanding handgun. She's a lefty, so the ambidextrous controls are a big advantage. She had the mag release button reversed, so that it's set up for her left thumb. The changeable backstrap was a help in fitting it to her hand, as well. Over the last three years, it's been 100% reliable. It's accurate, has a pretty good trigger for a DA/SA, and is a very comfortable shooter. The decocker takes a little getting used to, but it's no big deal with a little practice. There is a compact version available now, also.
Overall, I think the FNP-9 is a very good value.
