Just a question
Our local chapter of the Friends of the NRA is finally up and running. Being new, not too many folks know about us yet. We are trying to spread the word while raffleing off handguns. We have already raffled one Kimber .45 and are nearing the drawing for the second. Seems that we had more trouble selling tickets than we expected. ( 1 in 50 chance to win the gun...$20 a ticket) I know that times are tough, but normally folks really jump on this kind of stuff.
The question is, would you be more apt to buy a raffle ticket on a pocket gun like the ruger LCP or should we stick to the .45? Was the apprehension I noticied because of the price, the caliber, or the brand of firearm?
We have also tossed around the idea of selling more chances for less money on smaller dollar firearms, like a .22 rifle or the ruger charger. More chances meaning 3 tickets for $5 but maybe 1000 tickets sold.
Any input would be great!!

I'd do a less expensive gun, like the LCP. Or get a hold of a sought after but harder to find gun like a AR or no lock J frame.

Hmm, what about a gift certificate from a Gun Shop in the area for whatever amount you determine?
That would allow the winner the opportunity to select their favorite firearm.

I think the primary problem is the cost of the tickets. If you dropped the price to $10.00 and increased the number of tickets to 100 sold I think you'd do better.

Maybe try a multi choice raffle...winner gets to choose from one of a revolver, semi auto, shot gun, or rifle. Just make a deal with a local friendly dealer. Might make it easier.

Our Clubhouse needed to raise money for additions; they raffled of a NIB Mossberg 590; 100 tix @ $10; sold like hotcakes.
In your case $20 might be a bit high; a better odd 1/50 vs. 1/100 doesn't really make a diffeence for most people.

You would be surprised at some people, they will buy 2@10.00 ea
but 1@20.00 is too much. LOL

I'd recommend reducing the price also.

Where in ohio is your chapter located at? I'd be interested in a firearm raffle period, who cares what it is that you are raffling. LOL

As far as I'm concerned, the 45 is just fine. In fact, if you send me the address by PM, I'll mail you a check for a ticket!

our local FOTNRA is doing a raffle this year for a Sig 556 Classic, and the tickets are $10 each, or 6 for $50, or 13 for $100.
I'd go with a higher end gun .... one that may be "donated" by a local dealer (tax write off and great advertisement)
