Sig Sauer Break-in period?
Does anyone know what Sig suggests for a break in period, or procedure (if any)? Or does anyone here typically follow any process for breaking one in? And aside from shooting a particular number of bullets is there any number of times the gun should be cleaned? Thanks!

After an initial cleaning and lube... I personally like to run around 400 rounds of FMJ ammo through my weapons and at least 20+ rounds of intended carry ammo through it before I start carrying assuming no problems. There are some good videos available on SIG's web site along with several FAQs to help you with your new weapon.

+1 check the website SIG SAUER
with any new gun, make sure it will eat what you want to feed it (with no problems)
congrats on the new Sig

Sig Sauer? They don't need a stinkin' break-in.
Just kidding. I think any gun that is carried as a CCW needs to be test-fired adequately. Along with everything else it builds up confidence for the owner.

My P239 9mm DA/SA worked smoothly from the day I got it, but I agree with the others that you should shoot it with the cleaning regiment and the ammunition you plan to carry for a period of time to establish there are no problems.
Several hundred rounds sound like a reasonable minimum to me.

The only break in they need is a proper post on the boards with a picture!!!
You should be good to go after a quick clean/lube.

I agree a break in period is always a good thing if you have time and ammo. That being said I have carried my p228 and Glock 23 with nary a hitch after only 50-100 rounds. Just new gun shootin. not testing and evaluating.

QUOTED FOR TRUTH
As consumers, we need to stop using "break in period" as part of the lexicon when discussing new firearms!
No more using consumers as beta testers! Fix your tolerances at the factory!

I agree. Treat it with the Militec-1 that comes with the pistol before you shoot it and it'll be as slippery as butter if you do it right the first time. After that cleanups are a breeze. Congrats on one of the best brands of weapons out there.

Never had to break in any of my SIG's... they shoot every time I pull the trigger.
I clean every gun I shoot after every trip to the range... only the ones I shoot, but every time... I did shoot my Glock 19 twice once without cleaning in between... ONCE!!!

Just for kicks n' grins, I spent six months of shooting 100 or more rounds twice a month without cleaning my Glock 17. Dang thing worked every dang time I pulled the dang trigger.
I gave up on trying to make it fail and clean and lube it after each session now...

Well I like to feel the recoil with any self defense ammo I am considering. Then I kinda give it a pat and a hug it so it feels welcome, stick it in a VMII and take it out when needed.
Three Sigs over 16,000 rounds and NEVER a failure except 2 poof reloads, my bad.
1911s seem to need break in periods, so I would consider a break in for a Sig 1911.

No break in needed, just find the ammo that it
shoots the best,
BTW all my 15 or so Sig's digest any thing I feed them, hungry
little buggers.
