I've shot a couple different XD's in .40 and .45 they were both really accurate and felt good in the hand. sorry can't give you any advice on how it carries.

    Thumbs up

I purchased one a little over a month ago and have put about 100 rounds through it so far. I really like it and bet you will too.

I have heard alot of good things about this model. I just sold my Glock 27. It just never fit right in my hand.

My opinion is you could do a lot worse, and you can do better too.

I carry an XD 40 compact (4") as my EDC and I love it. I have both an OWB and tuckable IWB holster and they both conceal fine on me at 5'10" 205.

I've put maybe 1000 rounds through my XD and had 2 fte caused by garbage range ammo. The thing pretty much eats whatever you feed it. And most importantly for SD, every time I pull the trigger it goes BANG. :)

I really like the firing pin indicator, chamber indicator, and grip and trigger safeties. I find that for the money it is the best firearm I could find.

PM me if you have a particular question; I recommend the XD everywhere I go.

+1 MinistrMalic. I have the same size XD for my EDC, and have no complaints. Depending on the weather Ill carry in either a Crossbreed SuperTuck or a Graco OWB. The only issue I have had with it was about 3 years ago when I first got. Had an issue with the first and last round getting caught on the ramp. Took it to the local gunsmith who polished and throated it, never had an issue again. Think my round total is about 1500-2000.

    Solid Gun

I carry the same model as my EDC. I have had it for almost two years with absolutely no problems. It does eat whatever you feed it and reliably fires when you pull the trigger.

The grip grip safety and the chambered round indicator are pluses in my book.

I have had a couple of SWAT guys and one US Marshall friend fire my XD-40. All of them liked it and agreed it was as good as any other gun in that price range.

You could probably find better if you are willing to pay more, but for the money I believe it is the best thing going.

You might want to consider the XDM for better accuracy and increased round capacity.

Hey trickormate here are a few pics I mentioned on the PM I sent you. Iv never had a missfire or failure to discharge. Goes boom everytime. Im kinda looking for a variety of firearms... a Sig 232, or almost any SIg. STI LS9, 4" 1911 Kimber, Springfield ect... Ramie 9mm. Colt New Agent maybe a PPS or Walther P99C... just to mention a few. Or I was thinking $500 give or take a few bucks for the whole thing to finance a new weapon.

I had a Sig40ve and I didn't really care for the trigger. It felt like it was going to give and break. I see it has the same type trigger so I probably wouldn't consider it.

The M&P has a much better trigger than the Sigma. I carry one daily, and it is not near as long or hard of a pull.

I own and carry XD 9 Service and Subcompact. They are very reliable, accurate, of reasonable weight.

To contrast with my 1911's, the XD's, like many other carry semi's, are thicker and blocky-er. The butt is a teeny bit harder to conceal, and the corner at the muzzle-end of the slide can sometimes put a little pressure point behind my hip joint.

The positives far outweigh the negatives for me. I'd say the XD is easily pretty good for most folks. You'll have to decide what's "perfect" for you.
