P229 Elite
Ok, I am graduating with my BS (Economics) in May.
I am looking to reward myself (or get someone -friend/family- to subsidize) a nice new SIG for my gutting it out.
Two questions.
1. (I MIGHT be moving back to California) What is the deal with going to California with a Nevada bought pistol? Can I even own 12 round mags, or do I have to sell them/otherwise get rid of them? How hard is it to get 10rd mags?
2. Can I get a Platinum Elite with black anodized aluminum grips? (Small gloves
)
Also, I want to get it engraved to commemorate the event. How would that work with the SS slide?
(The p229 elite dark would be my baby without question if the SS slide is not cutie pie with some engraving (I was thinking just a small engraving of my departments logo and year with maybe some other diploma related stuff... I am proud of my self and it seems like a great excuse to get the lady to agree)

I was planning on the .40
The additional's are .357 SIG and .22 or 9mm?
It is my understanding that you can change out the .40 for 357 with only a barrel change, and that I can get a 22 aluminum slide, etc for 3-400. Is it also able to take a 9mm with just a mag and barrel change?
Anyway, just started handling SIGs, and I am just beside myself... the big arse wood grip on the elite was too big for me, and the aluminum grip felt great, but the color was too crazy for me...unless it comes with a flavor flave grill

It's an open invitation to throw the thread continually off topic)

you can always find a company to anodize your bright and shiny aluminum grips, that shouldn't be to hard. Sigs are awesome guns, super high quality, dependable, and great fit and finish (IMHO). Enjoy your new toy!

The additions are 357 SIG and 9MM. SIG has started making a .22 conversion kit for the 229 that includes mag, barrel and slide. Not sure how available the .22 kit is yet..... Check the SIG Company website.
The 9MM conversion is a 3rd party barrel (Barsto ?)

The 22 kits are easily obtainable right now. I'm thinking about getting one. They don't lock back on the last round though, and a few people have reported excessive wear on the rails, but I think if properly lubricated, and relubricated during the range session, there should be no problems.

I would seriously rethink living in Cali or at least staying out of anti gun citys /counties

Not my choice.
My current girlfriend (as soon as we graduate in may I am planning on popping the question - already got her brother and fathers permission because the brother had to jet to Afghanistan early) only applied to a few colleges for her graduate school.
Basically it is more likely than not we will end up in California for some time.
Likely in a REAL sh*tty county (Alameda/SF/Contra Costa, LA, or SD).
believe me, it gives me a headache thinking about it. Though I HEAR that the sheriff in San Bernardino county makes it an almost shall issue county (My home county has 190 permits for about a million people)
