    New carry gun - Smith 686 2 1/2" bbl.

Bought this new Smith 686 yesterday and thought I would post a few pics. She is a handful at about 35 oz. empty but I am quite reassured by the heft of this little beast. She will carry in a Galco "Combat Master" open top holster and will eat 158 grain .357 SJHP ammo. Can't wait to get to the range tomorrow and run a few down the tube. I bet she's a real flame thrower.

Great choice Sarge! Beautiful S&W and a KA caliber. Love my 66. It ALWAYS goes BANG with every trigger pull.

Sweet, I have a Model 19 2 1/2 inch, those short barrels do tend to have a bit of a roar with 357's.

You have a very good gun then. Great snubbies along with their cousins, the 66.

    Great gun indeed!

I have two of the original Del Horton commissioned weapons. I have carried one as a survival/protection gun in AK since new in the early 80's! (the other is unfired)

Recently installed a CT on it and plan on CC .
    you will love it!

I have the 4" model and it is my most accurate gun I own. I just ordered my wife a Galco Combat Master for her model 60, very mice holster for the smaller wheelers, you will be very happy. Check out Ables for a great price.

    Nice gun!

The 686 snubby is a very appealing gun, and a lot of fun to shoot. I also got one recently, and have carried it a little. It fits in the same holster I have used with my model 66, although you would think it would be too large for that. It weighs about 3 ounces more than the 66, but the grip panels are interchangeable and the barrel length is the same.

Beautiful pistol! I've got the 686 Plus (7 rds) in 4" bbl, and it's great to shoot. Is your snubbie the Plus version as well?

    I sure like my 686 - 2-1/2". Got a 4" as well but I like the 2-1/2".

Funny thing is, I carry a semi, but I can shoot the 686 on any given day as well, if not better, than any of my semis.

Took my 686 to Gunsite for their Advanced Tactics Pistol and it was flawless through 1200 or so rounds. I did have to pay a lot more attention to cleaning it than my semis under the same circumstances though.
