    Which would you buy?

I may have a chance to pickup one of the following for the same price:
    -NIB Glock 19 w/2 15rd mags
    -LNIB Browning HP w/1 mag

I've been looking for a good 9mm range/backup home defense gun and these two have been on my list along with the CZ75's. Also, I've been thinking about playing around with some IDPA.

I'm leaning towards the Glock. Which would you pick and why?

    Thanks for any input.

The Glock. It's a no regrets, no compromise choice.

Glock for the size, weight, availability of parts, dependability, holster selection, and it's probably the most popular carry gun going right now. I know, it's a sacrilege for me, a 1911 shooter, but even I have one!

Glocks aren't my favorite but not because they aren't a great weapon... of the two, I'd go with the G-19!

I would go with the Browning. G19's don't fit my hand. They shoot good, but just simply aren't comfortable.

Nothing wrong with either one in my opinion if they feel right for you.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

Rock the Glock if it fits your hand and is comfortable shooting.

The Glock (Block), feels like a brick in my hand, YMMV. Quite uncomfortable to shoot.

Glock...good for carry and IDPA; always good to shoot IDPA with your EDC.

    I'd pick the Hi Power.

I already own a Block and it mostly sits in the safe. My new EDC, off duty, after carrying a revolver for the past three years is a Hi Power. If the one you are considering is a Mk III, I'd jump on it and not look back.

Yes, parts are harder to find, but that's why there is Brownell's. The Hi Power doesn't have a lot of "accessories" and customization, IMHO, because it's already as close to perfect as a handgun can be. The "issues" that it does have can easily be dealt with, namely Trigger, Sights and Magazine Release.

Heck, I left my Trigger/Magazine release alone and just added Night Sights and Laser Grips. Part of the reason I would select the Hi Power is, Glocks are a "dime a dozen". You don't see a Hi Power everyday, that tells me a lot.

Another point in favor of the Hi Power, it makes the shooter look good. It's really hard to not shoot well with a Hi Power if you have a reasonable grasp of the shooting fundamentals.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. :)

I've never shot a Browning Hi-Power but have fondled a couple of them at gun shows. They feel nice and I'm sure they are fantastic pistols. I own and carry a Glock 19 almost everyday and I consider it my most trusted sidearm. Another thing I like about Glocks is the enormous amount of accessories and holsters.
