    PT111 1st 2nd and 3rd Gen

Are there any issues with the older Taurus models? Either the PT111 or the PT140? The first generation looks quite different and wondered if they were as reliable as the latest models.

the 1st gen PT models were known for cracking slides, especially the first pt140. however, Taurus seems to have rectified that problem in the 2nd and 3rd generations.

IIRC, aside from cracking slides, I thought ive also seen folks talk about the earlier gens dropping mags when firing too.

My 3rd gen mil pro has been perfect so far.

Now that you mention, I think I've heard that somewhere too. I have a 3rd gen PT140 PRO that has been nothing but great to me.

If you don't mind, can I ask what you put down for them? Currently the local toy store has them for $397 out the door. For some reason I remember them being much cheaper???!!!

I think I paid about...$370 something when I got mine. It was in AZ at a store that has been known to have good prices. Seems like the cost of guns has gone up since the election...

I bought a PT111 first generation the year they came out.

Never had a hiccup. It was, and is, a highly reliable and concealable pistol. I've read all about the cracks in the PT140 and PT145, but I've never had any trouble with mine.

I paid $250 NIB. Well spent, and I have no regrets.

The only thing to complain about is that it's pretty utilitarian. Not the most accurate, not the prettiest, not the best (or even very good) trigger, but it goes bang every time. I can't say that about any of the 1911s I've owned or fired over the years, although they're a lot sexier.

And yes, I carry it regularly because of its size, light weight, and reliability.

I picked it up for my wife for 319.99. about a year ago, Its since gone up to 389, just like everything else has gone up. There is one shop selling them for 319 about an hour away from here, but Im thinking they have the earlier models.

Its a perfect carry gun IMHO, its reliable, I like the capacity, the safety, grip size is great for CCW, and iits hard to argue with the price.

The only thing I didnt take to, are the straight eight sights.
