    Colt Anaconda

Been feeling frisky of late and kinda want to pick up a big revolver. Shot a friends Ruger 44 mag. and got the bug. As luck would have it I find myself presented with an opportunity to pick up a Colt Anaconda 44 magnum 6 inch. Fired only a handful of times, in box with the tag still on it. It's a "make an offer" type deal. I don't want to "low ball" the guy (times are tough on some and I believe in the old Golden Rule (NOT the one where he who has the gold makes the rule, the other one) but don't to pay several hundred too much either! Anyone seen one sell lately? Anyone make a good guess as to it's true value?

They aren't cheap. I've seen them go for 850 for a used but not abused one to well over a 1000 for lnib
We will be much better off when we learn to deal with things as they really are, instead of how we wish them to be!

    Ditto that.
    800-1000 is about par.
I've got one. Its the most accurate .44 I have ever shot with a most excellent trigger.

Naturally you want to be fair but, you also want to do a deal where both of you can feel like you did OK.

You'll appreciate the fact that it's in great shape but, he also needs to realize that a modestly used firearm is still a used firearm.

I'd go to gunbroker.com and check out amounts that folks are actually bidding as compared to some seller reserves which are somewhat unrealistic.

Then try to reach a balance point between the two.

They are fetching decent dollars these days.

I wish Colt would bring their snakes back. Anyone know why they were discontinued in the first place?

Because there marketing strategies have been some what lacking in the last two decades. Its the very reason that they have been in and out of bankruptcy and changed hands several times. Their corporate officers always seem to be out of touch with reality.

I agree, I have a 6" Anaconda .44 mag and think Colt quality and finish, (especially the high polished blue steel 6" Pythons) are 2nd to none.

Can't say for sure, but the demise of most revolvers is due to the highly evolved plastic semi-auto's that have taken over the market. I think the increasing number of carry permits has however rejuvinated the small revolver market.

Well. decided $1000 was the magic number. Sold it right before I called for $1000! Thanks for all the replies. I'll just wait until something else jumps up.

You should really call Midwest Gun Exchange up here in Indiana. I saw the exact Colt you were looking at and they had for under $900 NIB.

Even with an FFL fee, it would be well under your $1000 limit.
