[A Tribute To] The **GLOCK 27**

I have bought and sold 2 Glock 27s over the past few years and I just bought my 3rd G27 a few days ago. It is brand new, with the first factory round fired on January 8th, 2009.

I have been through so many Concealed Carry Handguns that I have lost track of them...Glock 19,23,17,22,27, Sig P239, Colt Python 2.5" Stainless Steel Revolver, Kahr MK40 Elite 2003, S&W 640, 642 with CT Grips...the list goes on and on... and it all finally comes down to this: I have finally learned my lesson:

I am sticking with the Glock 27!

The Glock 27 is my personal favorite CCW, and IMO, is the most effective pistol ever created for its niche. I use a Pearce +1 grip magazine extension and it feels rock-solid in my hand. I installed a set of XS Big Dot Night Sights on it and I LOVE them. They are my new top choice for CCW sights. I purchased a Crimson Trace Laser Grip for my G27 and I find it very functional and handy.

    I use Double Tap 155gr. .40 S&W Self-Defense ammunition (Ballistics : 155gr. @ 1275fps / 560 ft/lbs - Glock 23 - 4.0" barrel).

So, here are some pictures just to show off my Glock 27:

I originally purchased a Glock 36 to carry, but have recently chosen to instead carry a Glock 27 as my Primary CCW.

THIS IS WHY I CHOOSE TO CARRY THE GLOCK 27 OVER THE GLOCK 36:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    DOUBLE TAP AMMO COMPARISON OF 155gr. .40 S&W [VS] 230gr. .45 ACP:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Bullet: 155 gr. .40 S&W Speer Gold Dot JHP:

    Ballistics: 155gr. @ 1275fps / 560 ft/lbs - Glock 23 (4.0" bbl)

    DoubleTap .40 S&W Penetration / Expansion:
    155gr. Speer Gold Dot JHP @ 1275fps - 13.00" / .76"

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Bullet: 230gr. .45 ACP Speer Gold Dot JHP :

    Ballistics: 230 gr. @ 1010fps / 521 ft/lbs - Full Size 1911 (5.0" bbl)

DoubleTap .45 ACP Penetration / Expansion:
    230gr. Speer Gold Dot JHP @ 1010fps - 15.25" / .95"

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, if I had my choice, I would hit someone with a .45 230gr. Speer Gold Dot JHP from Double Tap Ammunition.

However, I much prefer 10+1 rounds of .40 S&W (with .19" less expansion) over 6+1 rounds of .45 ACP... and that is, remember, my opinion. The Glock 27 provides me 4 more chances to hit a vital organ/spine/CNS/brain compared to the 6+1 rounds carried in the Glock 36.

Then again, you could always carry a Glock 29 and get these ballistics:

165gr. 10MM Speer Gold Dot JHP @ 1400fps - 14.25" / 1.02" (Yes, that is over an inch of expansion!)

11 Rounds of 155gr. .40 S&W Speer Gold Dot Hollow Point from Double Tap fit into this tiny pistol (They load their ammunition hot and the velocities prove it)

Well, it took me about three years if you mean "liking it" as in, using it as your primary CCW...

I'll hold on to my G22 as primary carry.

But really, was that necessary? That doesn't have anything to do with this thread, lol.

Some great pictures, thanks for sharing! I had a G22 that I traded in for a new G27 when I got my CC permit. If I had the extra dough, it would still be fun to be able to own and try out as many models as you said you tried.

    Thank you for the reply

I lost a few bills going through all of those pistols but it was worth it to find out which one suits me best!

    Similar but not the same:

My H&K P2000sk is slowly replacing my Sig P226 for EDC.

I love the fit in a T&T Gunleather similar to the VMII.

A friend shot the 27 in USPSA a few times and did very well although not a gun designed to shine in competition.

I just picked up a new G27 earlier this week. It will become my warm weather EDC gun, taking over the top spot currently held by my XD .45 Compact.

I like all calibers as long as they start with a 4.

I too have a G27, and I wouldn't really look into carrying anything else. It just fits... I do rotate my other pistols in and out, but I come back to this one without fail.. Enjoy

Glock27/ KaBar TDI/ MTAC Holster. I have more also, but this combination works well..
