Anybody have any experience with either of these guns? I am particulary interested in reliabilty. They cost a lot more then Glock 40 S&W's and Glock is pretty hard to beat on reliability. The last thing I want to do is buy what appears to be a really nice firearm for lots of money only to have it be temperamental with ammo and jam. One thing on the range another in a self defense scenario. Inputs appreciated. Regards

I have the XD 40 and love it. I have a couple thousand rounds thru it. No problems. I also have an XDsc9 and no problems with it either. I like how the XDM feels, but I have never shot one.
I have mainly put WWB thru them... but I am anal. I clean my guns after each trip to the range. Hope this helps.
i had an xd40 and loved it.......only sold it to upgrade to the .45acp, which wasnt offered when i first bought ......check out this article done on the xd torture test......should help with any reliability questions.......ive never had a problem with the .40 or the .45

XD40c is my EDC...never had a problem. I love the firing pin indicator and chamber indicator, and have never had a problem with it. I shoot anything that is cheap at the range, as well as WWB. Never had a problem with mine.
My XDm is as reliable after 2500 rounds or so as my Glock 22 was. Feels better in my hands. I have been shooting at an indoor range, and have had several 11 hour days at the outdoor range with temps down to -18... shot just fine.
The XD45 I used have was just as reliable as my Glock is.
I want to get an XDM45 when they come out.
It depends on your planned use. If you plan on attending some training and shooting a lot, the XD is a poor choice. It will fail, I promise. If you plan on being an occasional recreation type of shooter, the XD will serve you well. Its more about what you want out of the gun than what the gun is capable of.

The XD is absolutely as reliable as the Glock. And it has a much more ergonomic grip to boot!
I carry an XD .40 service model and I have put about 600 rounds through it in the last week or two of various brands, types and weights. It has cycled everything I have put into it with out a single failure.
I carried a Glock 23 before I got the XD .40 and while I can say it too cycled everything I ever put in it, it has a grip that did not point as natural for me, and I was always just waiting in the back of my mind for a Ka-Boom to happen since it has happened with the G23/22 the most.
I like the grip safety on the XD a lot but I did like the fact that the bore axis was lower on the Glock.
Either gun is going to be very, very reliable. Shoot both if you can and decide which one fits your hand best and which you shoot best. Then go with that one.

Seriously - I dont have any time firing with a regular XD. I have put 2500 plus rounds through my XDm .40 in about a month of shooting. most of my range sessions were short duration/high round count shoots. 2 hours 5-600 rounds.
I have shot it indoors at 68 degrees, outdoors near -20 degrees, to much lube, to little lube, wet, dry and I have had one type 3 malfunction (double feed) that I believe was shooter induced (I limp wristed unsupported shooting with my support side hand.)
How will it be doing after 10,000 rounds? 20,000 rounds? I dont know - but the parts all seem as high quality (or more so) than equivilant parts on a Glock. Its no Sig Sauer, but it seems to me that it is going to be quite a work horse.

If you are solely looking at longevity (mean time between failure) then I would think the Glock would have to win. It only makes sense. If you assume for arguments sake that materials and craftsmanship are equal between the two then the one with less parts to break (the Glock) wins.
I love my XD(M) nonetheless. About 2200 failure-free rounds now - often with little or no cleaning. But if the XD(M) had been released a month later, I'd be carrying a Glock right now.

Like I said, the OP asked for opinions, he got mine. I dont give a hoot if anybody likes it or not.
FWIW, I'm not a "Glock Head" I dont carry one. I own a few, but I dont carry them. But I do know whats a superior pistol and whats not.
