    Kahr PM9 Generations

Does anyone know what the different generations are for the Kahr PM9?

    1) How many generations are there?
    2) What serial numbers represent which generation?
    3) What are the changes / advancements made with each generation?

    Thanks. GL

PS. Sorry if this has already been discussed. I searched for 20 minutes and could not find anything.

All Kahr guns have the basically the same action which is based on the Browning locked-breech design and has a striker-operated firing pin with a passive firing pin safety, so there is not really a lot that changes with any "generations" with these guns. They are very solid and relaible handguns, one of the top CCW options on the market. The PM 9 is a realtively recent polyimer framed offering but already has a large and loyal following. One main advantage of the Kahr pistol design is that it is identical in function across virtually all Kahr models, so once a shooter becomes familiar with the handling characteristics of one model, the learning curve with other Kahr firearms is shorter.
When I leave the home port:
S&W 642 Airweight, Ruger SP 101, Colt Detective Spec., CZ RAMI, Kahr PM9, Kahr CW40, S&W Model 10-7, Glock 30, 19, and 26, Browning Hi Power, CZ82, Colt Commander, Dan Wesson PM7, Ruger LCP

There are two that I know of, but like pirate said, the changes are minimal. The only difference is the sight channel, they changed the shape so you have to be careful and know what you got before buying new sights.

There is indeed a list somewhere corresponding serial numbers to the time of manufacture, I used it when I was researching a PM9 purchase. I will try to find it and post the link. I don't remember if this is the forum where I found that list or not, but I'll search again.

Found it. I will PM you the link, as I am not sure I'm allowed to post a link to another forum or not. If a Mod tells me I can post the link here, I will.

    Thumbs up for the PM9!

From what I've read, there are some minor changes in the recent (IAxxxx) guns -- updated mag release, barrel (no notch for the recoil spring), etc. The models started with VAxxxx, then VBxxxx. The barrel recall applied to VAxxxx models (and maybe VB?). Then VCxxxx, VDxxxx and most recently IAxxxx. My VD is about a year-and-a-half old. The IAs came out last year (June?). Basically, all the models are the same, with the exceptions noted above (and the sight channel noted by another poster...an earlier change).
