My Dad carries an XD almost like mine!

So I was talking to my folks on the phone Saturday night and we got to talking guns. (My parents live in Indiana and my Dad has his lifetime carry permit there) My Dad asks me if I got a new gun with my tax refund this year since I had told him I was thinking about it. I told him that I got an XD .40. He tells me that he carries an XD .40! I did not know that.

His is an all black service size (4 inch barrel) and mine is the same gun but mine is two tone, stainless slide and black frame.

When I told him mine was just like his except two toned he says "Oh, you got a pimp gun!" PIMP GUN!?!

I just about split my sides laughing so hard. My Dad thinks my two toned XD is a pimp gun!

Still, it's pretty darn cool that my Pop and I carry the same gun, except mine is a pimp gun of course....

My dad is as close as someone can be to being anti-gun without actually being "anti-gun".

He knows I have them and he knows I like them but that is as far as our discussions of firearms ever go. Neither of my parents know I have a CCW and carry. As far as I'm concerned it isn't something either of them needs to know.

You're lucky, man. When my dad found out I carry, he told me to get rid of the guns and take martial arts lessons ;-)

My sons are gun enthusiasts just like dad. My 19-year old son has a nice 1911, but only sees it when he is home on leave from the Marines. My 24-year old son just sold off one of his Glocks to emulate his dad... He just purchased a M&P9 Pro Series, after firing one of my M&P's at the range. What a proud moment for me.

Congratulations on the your XD and your fathers' XD. Now, two Croatian kids can get new shoes.

My XD Sub Compact is Black too. Mine is 9mm. I fitted it with a Crimson grip. I got a good holster that works well.

The pistol is very well made and will not fail you but for concealed carry I consider it a brick.

I recently bought the Walther PPS in 9mm with 3.2" barrel. That is what I carry most of the time.

My Sig P250 compact is my choice but is wider and longer. I can't say enough good things about this pistol except that the Walther is better for concealed.

With HP rounds, I feel it has enough stopping power for concealed carry even though it only has a 7 round single stack magazine. The Sig has a double stack 15+ 1 magazine.

My XD is heavy and while a Sub Compact, 10 round double stack, I must admit,, it is not the great American Concealed Carry pistol I expected it to be.

As for pimp guns, I would probably have not bought a two tone, but that is your choice.

    too funny!!

My dad does not carry a handgun , but he does like to see
mine when I get a new one.
PS. give it to your wife ,its not a pimp gun if a woman
    is carrying it.
