    NTM Colt Combat Commander

A couple of weeks ago I found this Mid 1970's Commander on my local forum and after a quick PM to J.D. for some info (hey, you said I could blame you) I bought it.
From what I can tell this is a totally unmolested gun with minor wear from being carried. The guy I bought it from said his dad was the original owner and might have put 500 rounds through it but he doubts it. I haven't been able to shoot it yet so no range report.

The Commander is a fine gun, I love mine, never fails to go bang and I like carring it from time to time. Always love shooting it!

Thanks for the replies, I'm going to take one more piece of advice JD gave me and get a wilson drop in beavertail for this one but that's all I will do to it.
Colt's just feel good to me. I think I'm going to try to find a Government to go with it when I can.

    One more piece of advice.
See how it points naturally for you and if you're tending to hit high then switch to a flat mainspring housing.
Especially if you are point shooting.

I thought of that, all my other 1911's have been switched to a flat MS housing, it's what I prefer. If I decide to shoot this one more I will make the change. Thanks for the tip though.

Cool, just remember to keep track of the original parts, and the flip side to being able to blame me for buying it is that if you ever decide to sell, I get first dibs.

Now that's not fair, you know how much I paid for it.

+1 on the beavertail. Worth every penny! Very handsome Colt!

    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Colts....

Very nice. I, too, prefer the flat mainspring. I need to bite the bullet and order one. Going to post a range report?
