Going to the toy store in the morning!!

Going gun shopping in the morning and well tonight, I'll be dreaming of two beauties. One is a Glock model 23. The other is a Rock Island Armory 1911 in Nickel. Which one should I go for? The Glock is a no-brainer...well because it's a Glock. However I really like what I've read about the RIA 1911's. I've heard they can be made into really nice shooting guns. I am a little concerned about the nickel finish. I mean it's beautiful and all and I already can see it with Ivory grips on it. But, I'm wondering how the metallurgy is on those guns. There's nothing uglier than a flaking off nickel finish. Anybody have one of them? Both guns are roughly the same price. I guess the safe bet would be the Glock. Can you help me out?

What other guns do you have? If this is going to be your only, I would be going for the Glock. If it was my money, of course. :)

Hmmm, I'm a big fan of the 1911 and seeing as you already have a couple other wheelguns I see no reason for the Glock. Get the good stuff!

If I were starting all over? I'd go with the Glock...

I have the Glock 23...excellent carry weapon. Point and shoot. Save your money and buy a "nicer" 1911.

If guns are toys, I'm a Toys 'R' Us kid! Get both, just not at the same time.

nothing wrong with ria's, mines shooting very tight at 15-20yds, and no malfunctions

Get the 1911, the response time is faster than 911

Yeah, fraid that would sound that way. I am sure the RIA is a quality gun. Guess I should have said "fancier and prettier." LOL The RIA is a quality "utility" (?) 1911, kinda like a Glock is a Utility Polymer. HAHA Was sort of hinting about holding out for like a Wilson, Kimber, Baer, Ed Brown, Etc. Not trying to be a gun snob.
