    Help me pick a 1911

I have a few glocks and XD and a S&W sigma already and I figured I dive into the 1911 pool so here goes.....I'm looking to spend about $800, now with that out of the way I have only 3 stipulations. I have come up with a Para (really like this gun) but have seen others that I have not been able to handle for one reason or another. They are the STI Spartan, Auto-Ordnance Thompson, S&W and a Springfield
Here are my requirements if you care
    1-Must be 45 ACP
2-Must have a beavertail grip safety
3-Must have a flat mainspring housing

You do realize that the 1911 addiction is pretty much without a cure, right?

now you tell me...............lol It is like an addiction when you get a new one you get a fix your happy, smiling for a week or two. They you get the urge, then you start jonesing again for another one.

It is a never ending cycle. Start your sickness off with a S&W, Mine is GREAT!!!

    Springfield Operator...

You do know that asking which 1911 to go with is like asking if Ford is better than Chevy, Glock vs XD, brunettes vs blondes...

You'll never get a correct answer...so overall, it's your own decesion. Each manufacture has its faults/problems...so pick whichever.

Look at the offering from Springfield.....I always thought BMW's and Redheads were a good combo.

    Colt! Ford and a Brunette!!
We will be much better off when we learn to deal with things as they really are, instead of how we wish them to be!

I've had the 1911 bug for a long time.
Being a handy sorta guy I am going to build my own.
So I have decided on a Fusion Firearms full sized frame.
    Fusion Firearms For $199
A Sarco kit less frame, slide and barrel for $110
    Sarco Slide $110

And the Sarco Roto barrel for $38

That should get me started anyway.
It won't be a race or high priced gun and will prolly cost more than it is worth when done but I don't sell guns so that isn't an issue.
I figure to start with the basics and fine tune it from there.

Hmm... that's how it started with FAL's.

Until then I'll have to make do with my FNP45.
Keep the gun oiled and the temple clean

Colt or Kimber...Ford, XD and Brunettes.
There are two sides to every issue: one side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is always evil.

Springfield Loaded Model. You'll have to shop a bit, and maybe bump the budget just a little (not much) but it's worth it.

And Ford, and Redheads. No, Brunettes. No wait, Blonds...
Well, I like variety! Hey, why am I still single again?
    Regards, T Bone.

Check out these blogs written by our very own modorator JD, I probably read them 4-5 times before setteling on the 1911 that I bought. Well written, and very informative.

Give me my guns and my right to keep and bear arms, and they can keep their change.
