    Glock Questions.

Can someone please tell me the length of the G19 or G23 measured from the trigger guard to the end of the barrel and how long is the G30 is from the guard to the barrell. i am trying to determine how a Viridian X5L Laser/Light would stick out past the end of the barrel or if it would be close to flush. The viridian fits nicely on the G21 and want to see if it would fit well on the 30.

    Edit - sorry I meant G19/G23

I took a measurement on both my G-30 and G-19 (same size as 23). Interestingly, on both the 30 and 19 the distance is 1 3/4" from the trigger guard to the end of the notch that's cut across the rail. On the 30, that notch ends just about at the end of the barrel. On the 19, there is another 1/4" after the notch.

So total length on 19 is 2in and the 30 is 13/4?
Would you say the laser would stick out a bit on the 30??

Check this pic out of the G19.

That is correct: G-19 = 2 in. G-30 = 1 3/4 in. Judging by the picture of the 19, the laser would stick out about 1/4" forward of the barrel on the G-30. It does say in their ad that the laser is model specific.
You should also be aware that some lasers, and taclights that are rail mounted have caused failures because they change the rigidity of the frame. However, I am not aware of any probs with these two models.

PS - which would you choose for home defense, the 19 or the 30? just curious

If just home defense and not concealed carry, I would choose a standard sized Glock in a larger caliber, not a sub-compact. I suspect the 30 would have a horse kick when it goes bang and would make a better carry gun.

Surprisingly the G30 is a great gun to shoot, one of Glocks most accurate to boot!. I originally thought the same as you but I was pleasently surprised to find the recoil to be minimal and quite manageable.

After I shot one, I sold my G19 to buy my new G30.

The Glock 30 is in fact my Home Defense/Nightstand gun. It is easier to shoot than my Colt 1911, and just as accurate. It is equipped with a Crimson Trace laser sight, and in my opinion is too bulky to carry, although many do ( I typically carry a G-36), but is ideal for home defense. I just have more confidence in the .45 ACP round.
