    New Glock 19

My Sig 232 sold this past week. Somehow, a Glock 19 ended up coming home with me. Sorry honey, don't know how that happened.

The G19 is my first Glock. I spent some time considering the options, Glock vs Sig, etc. Sig 239's are impossible to come by in my area right now. The G19 grip is a bit wide for my short fingers, but I am able to make it work.

Went to the range this morning and ran 150 rounds of WWB thru the Glock with no issues whatsoever. Flawless. Sights were easy to pick up. I put 40 rounds into the target at 7 yards...

Just a bit to the left - that fat grip makes for a reach. These are pairs at 7 yards.

I also took my trusty J-frame 637 with me. Hung a cardboard strip up, 6" wide by about 30" tall. Not nearly as good a group at 7 yards, but the best I can do with the J.

The Glock was a package deal - came with a laser which I don't need or want. I plan to sell it shortly, which will make the Glock a heck of a deal. The dealer said she ordered 50 G19's in January, her annual factory direct order. She has sold 47 of them this past week - they were only in stock for a week. Mine is number 48. It is really crazy out there!

Possibly, I plan on adding an NY1 trigger spring. What can I say, I'm an old revolver guy. Anyone have any experience with the NY1 trigger? Is it easy to replace?

I may also add night sights later. I'm thinking of just going with Glock night sights. Anyone have any suggestions/opinions?

It was another fun day at the range.

You'll be very hard pressed to find a finer 9mm than that G19, my friend.

    Enjoy it!

Congrats. I just got myself a Glock 19 as my first Glock too. Haven't shot mine yet though. I got mine through a private purchase. I haven't seen a G19 in stock in any of my local shops lately.

The NY1 trigger spring is easy to install. Unload, field strip, punch out the locking block pin, then the trigger pin (wiggle the slide stop front to back to make it easier), then the trigger housing pin. Pull out the slide stop, locking block and the trigger/trigger bar/trigger mechanism housing. Rotate the trigger bar out of the housing and disconnect/remove the trigger spring. The NY1 trigger drops into the housing (only fits one way), put back in the trigger bar and put it all back together. The locking block pin goes in before the trigger pin/slide stop lever. Use a 3/32" punch or glock tool. Function check when you are done.

If you look on youtube there are several videos showing how to do a detail strip.

The trigger will have a little more resistant on the take up and the break with a quicker reset. The nice thing about the Glock is that the parts don't cost much and it is easy to swap them out. You can do it right at the range, try them out etc......

The glock night sights are quality. Pretty much the same as mepros except the front sight is staked on. Glock is planning on changing this to the standard nut/screwed on front sight and is in the process of switching over (might be using it right now). I believe glock only charges around $55 for the night sights. You ship your slide and they put them on and ship it back to you. Around a 2 week turn around. It's a good deal.

    If I didn't carry an H&K P2000, I would carry a G19.

I bought my first Glock (G26) a few weeks ago and it's great. Your gun collection is not complete until you have a Glock.
