Has anyone recently puchased one of the S&W Model 64 DAO .38 revolvers being sold "used." I think they supposedly came from an armored car service that purchased new handguns.
I'm considering a purchase of one of these 4" S&W's, and wondered if anyone had received and fired one of these revolvers? Were you satisfied? What grips came with it?

Owned a 3" Model 64 i purchased NEW and had following done: hammer bobbed(but NOT an internal DAO job),charge holes chamfered,trigger polished and entire gun bead-blasted. It wore Eagle Secret Service grips and it was my duty-gun from about '94 to 2000 when my job went Glock. I sold it to a friend and I MISS IT!!! I HOPE THAT HELPS!! Grab it and go!!

Received the used 4" S&W Model 64 DAO from JG Sales ($250 + $20 shipping) and am very pleased with it. Condition is VG+++. Came with black rubber grips, which will soon be upgraded. Has the heavy barrel contour. Seems like a pretty good deal. This one is marked "Model 64-5."

The NYPD used 2", 3" and 4" bobbed hammer DAO model 64's for years. Great revolvers.
My current favorite off duty revolver is a 3" 64-3, Stoked with Ranger 110 grain 38+P+. Regards 18DAI.
