Slide says Made in West Germany with German proff markings. Imported Exeter, NH. Reduced price to $700 shipped. What do you guys think. I saw a picture & it looks good.
I prefer a black gun but I quess nickel is alright.
If you want a black one, get a black one. New ones can be had for a little more than 7.

Any reason to get an older model? Better made?
We have a new production 228 in the shop right now, they are making them. It's got the rail on it--- no go for me, I'll stay with the 2 228's non railed I have already.

Some of the Sig "purists" prefer the older West German pistols. I can't tell any real difference between my "KA"s and my "KF"s. Some of the newer P228s hitting the market are railed models. I believe all of the new ones have the shorter main spring and strut.

I've owned a Sig 226 in the past.. How does the 228 grip compare? I found the 226 was too big for my small hand. I know I could get thinner grip plates for the 228 & a shorter trigger.

The p228 is a more compact version than the 226. Its just like a p229 in dimension.

But for the sake of those who like to collect such things, please don't buy it and refinish it.I am sure you can find a black P228 out there.

How do you tell if it's factory nickel?

Sorry, but I believe $700 for a used 228 is pretty steep. You can buy NIB 229s at a local store for $714 OTD.
