    H&K Advice

I have always wanted a H&K pistol and have decided with my tax return I am finally going to buy one. I really don't know much about their product line. I am currently looking at their P30, P2000 and the USP. I am wanting one in 9mm so the wife can shoot it, and possibly carry it. I am leaning towards the P30 as it has interchangeable side panels and backstraps. The P2000 would probably be my second choice with the LEM trigger. But as I said I have never shot one, and know little about them, so I would really appreciate some opinions from some of y'all who have first hand expierence with them.
    Thanks

the full size USP, even in 9mm, is pretty bulky for CCW unless you have cover garment like a jacket all the time, keep this in mind, the compact USP is a little smaller but you should compare them
next, the P30 is going to be your all around best choice what you're wanting IMO, adjustable straps like you mentioned to fit the wife's hands....and there is the ultimate issue....if this is going to be the wife's weapon then she needs to handle 'em and get the one that best fits her

H&K makes great quality, dependable, and accurate guns, I'd suggest looking into what manual of arms your wife is proficient and comfortable with. Let her decide which one she can most easily control (not only caliber), and also which one fits/feels best.

I have a P2000 in .40 cal. that I am fighting to keep my wife from taking possession of. It is a great gun and has the adjustable back straps. It is pretty much the same size as the USP compact, but the USP doesn't have the adjustable back straps. I haven't had the honor of handling the P30 yet, but my advice would be to let her handle them and decide which one feels best to her.

I have three 9mm HKs and could recommend any one of the three. All are easy to shoot, very reliable and accurate. My wife chose my USPc as "her" gun. She doen't share my love of firearms, but when she will accompany me to the range she shoots it quite well.

I use a P2000SK as my CCW. Even though a smaller pistol, it still shoots "big". HK excels at reducing recoil and it really shows in the P2000 line.

I also have a P7 which is a blast to shoot. It has a nice crisp, light SA trigger and shoots like a laser.

My next HK will be the P30. It has that wonderful "Area 51, alien technology" grip.

I'd suggest the P2000SK over the others for the single reason, that you said she may carry it. The P2000sk will also accept the longer, higher capacity P2000/USPc magazines, which give you a longer, fuller grip and three more rounds.

Not to be an ass, but why do you want an H&K if you don't know much about their products? I don't own one personally but I understand they make good products so you shouldn't go wrong in getting one. Just curious.

GREAT GUNS, no matter what you pick. I have a usp in 45 and the recoil on it is minimal compared to a buddy's 1911 that I shot. My gun that I plan to carry is a P2000SK in .40, and the recoil on it is amazing. I would say its 1/3 to 1/2 of what a Glock 27 is. I don't have a P30, but I have held it and they are great. Very comfortable in the hand. While I understand the 9mm thing don't be afraid of getting a .40, as the recoil is not bad at all. My SK has the LEM and it is a very nice trigger. The pull is smooth and breaks very crisply at the end. I have a hard time going back and forth between it and the Match trigger on my USPT. No matter which gun you choose you will love it, but I would choose the one thats most comfortabe which I would probably say is the P30. I'm waiting to get one when they come out with the .40 version. Good Luck with your decision, and update us with your selection. Any more questions let us know.

My main squeeze is the USP 40c LEM and it's a fantastic piece. If you look closely at the specs, the P2000 is slightly longer in length and slightly shorter in height. I prefer the USPc as I tend to favor the longer grip with a more compact slide - both in looks and the way they feel. Definitely recommend getting the LEM in whatever model you go with. The P2000 is basically just an updated version of the USPc wih changeable backstraps. With that, and if you can afford it, I would get the LEM P30. I only have the one HK, but I'd love to have a P30 and a HK45c.

I use the P2000sk in 40cal as my CCW. Great carry weapon and shoots straight.

+1 on the P7; I have always wanted to pick one up, hopefully one day I will...

Because they are known for very high quality. The same reason I have a Glock, Beretta and S&W wheelers!! I hope that answers your question. I live in a very small town with no ability to handle guns prior to purchase. The G23 is to snappy for my wife and she limp wrists it. I know the H&K will be tamer due to weight, but I feel better with a 9mm. She shoots my 92F like a dream. Thanks for all the info. I think I will go searching for a P30.
Also considering the Sig 229 as well.
