XD40sc 10rd mag in the gun, and a spare 12rd mag ready to go.

Seems like 10 rounds is the norm for compact .40's. I just know theres gotta be something that holds 12 out there.

I think that the Taurus 24/7 OSS holds 12.

I just bought a sig 229 and that fills the bill for me , it holds 12 rounds

NOTHING BEATS A SIGSAUER! You would not be dissapointed with a P229, they are not only the highest quality, and as dependable as anything, (or more than anything else), but they are beautiful as well.

I have a p228 same as p229. Its is a great gun and you surely will not be disappointed...but my ultimate recommendation is a Glock 23. That's 13+1. And you can buy Glock 22 mags for 15+1. Much more carryable IMO than the p229.

I got a SIG229. The Glock 23 was a close second but the Sig worked better for me (grip). Either is a great gun and I would let it come down to which one you like better or for which you can get a better deal. Look for used once too.
