    Should I make the trade

I have a Colt Commander series 80 1911, I am thinking about trading it in for a glock 19 or maybe a CZ P-01. I'm leaning more towards the glock 19. Should I make the trade.

I would say no. If you really want a glock 19 save up some cash and buy one, but don't get rid of the colt, you will regret it.

What did you pay for the Colt? Is it comparable in price to the Glock? If so I say make the trade if the Glock is in good condition.

Not for the glock. Save up and buy one if you want. You'll regret not having that Colt. The CZ is a great gun; you might give it another look.

+1 on that especially if you shoot it well and it is reliable. If not that could be a different story though.

Perhaps you could review why you purchased the Colt in the first place; what appealed to you; what you've discovered since owning and using it. What appeals about the two you mention over the Commander you have?

I'd personally be happier owning and carrying the Commander but I know and trust the basic design best of the three. You're the one to please in this instance though.

I just did the same thing, except I sold an Officers Model for a Model 19. I am very happy I made the switch albeit it is still a little emotional. The 19 is only a tad larger and I am getting twice the capacity; that is an important issue in my mind. Years ago, you just did not here of as many multiple agressors as there is today. I am also older, eyesight is not quite as good, etc., I feel more comfortable with the 19. Federal tactical 124 gr

    Short answer: no
    Long answer: heck no
There are two sides to every issue: one side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is always evil.

If you are unhappy with your Colt, then yes, otherwise if you are just wanting a Glock 19, no, save your money and buy one. Colt may go out of business, and the Colt pistols could skyrocket in price making replacement very costly should you regret your decision.

I sell guns for a living and that my friend is a bad trade, we see the glocks for $325 to $400 slightly used all the time here and the colt is worth $550 in good condition. Hope this helps it is straight out of the blue book.

Don't think I'd trade that Colt, I might sell it out right then buy the Glock if that's what you want. Trades have seldom been good for me. Someone suggested saving up and buying the Glock, sounds like a better plan to me, but I don't know your situation either.

    Good luck
