Pair of my favorite carry guns are 36's with the heavy 3" bbl, that I had shrouds installed on,, for years on the job I carried a 3 1/2" 27, in a shoulder holster and a 5" on the hip.. in discussions with Col.Askins and Mr.Jordan they both told me they thought the 5" was the best damn carry lenght for duty revolvers...
Mr. Bryce loved the 3 1/2" 27 and perfered it to all others

In my opinion for a service revolver that's to be carried concealed, 3" is the ideal length. The tube is short enough to hide easily, yet still give you enough ballistic "oomph" and site radius to be effective.
P95 - that's a sweet M27!
One of the gunrags reviewed a limited edition 686 "Stocking Dealer Special" with a 5in. short underlug barrel that looked nice as well.
"Speed is fine, but accuracy is final." - Bill Jordan
My favorite revolver is a 3" 629. I'm about 5' 8" tall and with that gun in a belt holster, it's short enough that it doesn't run into the pickup seat when I'm driving.
I'd like to have a S&W 65 with a 3 inch barrel![]()

I have a 3" Taurus 85. It is just as easy to conceal as a 2" gun and offers more punch and a little longer sight radius. Mine is stainless, +P rated, and doesn't have the internal lock. I am thinking about a 3" Model 10 Smith that I have seen in Shotgun News lately.
